What we collect
When you pre-order or use Know the Couple, we collect:
- Your email address (to send you access details and updates about your order)
- Your name (if provided during checkout)
- Payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details)
When wedding guests play a quiz, we collect:
- The display name they enter to join the quiz (e.g. “Uncle Pete”)
- Their quiz answers and scores
We do not collect guest email addresses, phone numbers, or any other personal information from guests.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Process your pre-order and send you access when the product launches
- Send you important updates about your order (e.g. launch date, access instructions)
- Provide customer support if you contact us
We will never sell your information to third parties. We will never send you marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.
Payment processing
All payments are processed by Stripe. Your payment details are handled entirely by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's privacy policy. We do not have access to your full card number.
Cookies
Our website uses essential cookies only to ensure the site functions properly. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and notify you.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. Quiz data (questions, answers, guest scores) is stored on servers within the UK/EU.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time

Data retention
- Account and order data: retained for as long as your account is active, plus 6 years for tax/legal compliance
- Quiz data (guest names, scores): retained for 12 months after the wedding date, then automatically deleted
- If you request a refund, we retain your email for refund processing, then delete it within 30 days
